Xbox Acknowledges Password Issues on Consoles, Says It is "Investigating"

xbox new projects

Over the past few days, Xbox console players have been encountering a weird password issue. Over on Reddit, there are bunch of user reports [1] [2] [3], which suggests that Xbox doesn’t accept password even when using the correct one.

As seen in the image shared by a Reddit user, the sign in page displays an error message that reads, “The password is incorrect. Please try again.”

Apparently, removing the account and adding back also doesn’t help resolving the issue. While some users managed to resolve the problem by logging into a different device and changing the password, many are still encountering the problem.

Well, Xbox is apparently aware of this, as it today acknowledged the password issues encountered by console players.

Over on X, the Xbox Support account noted that it is “seeing a few reports of password issues on consoles.” The post adds that while Xbox investigates the matter, players can reset their password or choose a passwordless solution.

Since Xbox is investigating the matter, it’s unclear what exactly is causing the password issue. Considering the issue is widespread, we expect Xbox to act on it as soon as possible. Whenever we hear anything from Xbox in this matter, we’ll share an update.
