Microsoft Refreshes Windows 11 Installation Media With July 2026 Updates
Windows 11 installation media for July 2026 now includes the latest Patch Tuesday security updates for versions 25H2 and 24H2.
Microsoft has refreshed the installation files downloaded through the Media Creation Tool, according to Neowin. Users can create an updated bootable USB drive for clean Windows 11 installations.
Windows 11 July 2026 Updates Included
The refreshed installation media includes the following Windows 11 updates: KB5101650 and KB5099414.
For Windows 11 version 25H2, the Media Creation Tool currently downloads build 26200.8875 through KB5101650.
The installation files should also include the latest available Microsoft Defender security intelligence update.
Windows 10 Also Receives July Updates
Microsoft has also released updated installation files for Windows 10.
The Windows 10 media includes update KB5099539, giving users access to the latest fixes during a clean installation.
Media Creation Tool Version Remains Unchanged
Microsoft has not released a new version of the Media Creation Tool application.
The tool remains on version 10.0.26100.7019. However, it downloads the latest Windows installation files directly from Microsoft’s servers.
Users do not need a new Media Creation Tool version to access the refreshed media.
Why Users Should Create Updated Installation Media
The July 2026 Patch Tuesday release fixed 570 security vulnerabilities across Microsoft products.
Using the refreshed installation media allows users to install Windows with the latest available updates already included. This reduces the number of patches the system must download after setup.
Microsoft recommends keeping Windows devices updated because outdated and unpatched operating systems remain exposed to known security threats.
