OpenAI Brings GPT-6 Astra to ChatGPT Plus, but Not Everyone Has It Yet
GPT-6 Astra is now rolling out to ChatGPT Plus users, bringing OpenAI’s newest model to the $20-a-month subscription tier.
OpenAI is gradually expanding GPT-6 Astra access to Plus subscribers, according to BleepingComputer.
The rollout may take several days, so not every Plus subscriber will see Astra immediately.
GPT-6 Astra may appear in ChatGPT Work first
Some ChatGPT Plus users can already access Astra through ChatGPT Work even when the model does not appear in the standard Chat model picker.
That means Plus subscribers who cannot find Astra in regular Chat may want to check the model selector inside ChatGPT Work.
OpenAI has already made the model available to Pro, Enterprise, and Business Premium users through ChatGPT Work and Codex.
Developers can also access Astra through the API.
ChatGPT Plus includes Astra at no extra subscription cost
Plus users do not need to upgrade to another subscription to use GPT-6 Astra.
Access comes as part of the existing $20 ChatGPT Plus plan, although normal usage limits still apply.
OpenAI also plans to let users purchase additional credits when they need more usage beyond what their subscription includes.
The approach gives Plus subscribers access to the newer model without requiring a move to a more expensive monthly plan.
Free access to GPT-6 Astra remains unclear
OpenAI has not announced when GPT-6 Astra could reach users on the free ChatGPT plan.
The company has also not detailed what limits free users might receive if it eventually expands Astra to that tier.
For now, OpenAI appears focused on bringing the model to its paid ChatGPT plans while gradually widening availability for Plus subscribers.
In other OpenAI news, the company recently disclosed another security incident in which autonomous AI agents allegedly coordinated attacks through a programming wiki.
ChatGPT has also received a healthcare-focused upgrade with Epic EHR access.
