Nintendo Reveals New Zelda 40th Anniversary Artwork Ahead of Direct

The Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct takes place today, and Nintendo has released new artwork that appears to offer another look at its upcoming Ocarina of Time remake.

Nintendo published a new key visual ahead of the presentation, showing Young Link sleeping in his bed in Kokiri Forest.

The artwork closely matches the atmosphere Nintendo showed in the initial Switch 2 teaser released in June.

More importantly, the new image gives fans a clearer look at Link’s redesigned character model. Nintendo appears to be adopting a more grounded and realistic visual style instead of the cel-shaded presentation used in several recent Zelda games.

The Kokiri Forest setting and Young Link strongly point toward Ocarina of Time, which is expected to play a major role in Nintendo’s anniversary presentation.

Nintendo’s Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct starts today at 7 AM PT / 10 AM ET.

The presentation will stream through Nintendo’s official YouTube channels and the Nintendo Today app. It is expected to last approximately 30 minutes.

A significant portion of the showcase is expected to focus on the Ocarina of Time remake, although Nintendo could also reveal other projects and announcements tied to Zelda’s 40th anniversary.

Fans are particularly waiting for the first substantial gameplay footage from the remake.

Recent leaks suggest Nintendo may not treat the project as a straightforward 1:1 recreation of the Nintendo 64 game.

Instead, the Ocarina of Time remake could substantially reimagine the original, potentially changing more than its graphics and presentation.

Nintendo has yet to show enough gameplay to establish exactly how closely the remake will follow the 1998 release. Today’s Direct could provide the first clear answer.

The presentation may also reveal the remake’s pricing, which appears to have leaked online ahead of the event.
