ChatGPT Is Down & Not Working Today for Many In Latest Outage
It seems ChatGPT users are having a very rough day. While ChatGPT briefly experienced an outage and appeared to get back online, the issues are once again affecting users. The latest spike in reports is climbing again, suggesting that some users may still be having trouble accessing the AI assistant.
ChatGPT outage triggers another spike in reports
According to Downdetector, reports spiked sharply late on September 15, reaching 2,209 reports at 11:25 PM IST, compared with a baseline of just 14 reports. The latest screenshot now shows another spike, with 658 reports recorded at 1:13 AM IST on September 16, against a baseline of 16.
This suggests that the earlier outage may not have been completely subsided for everyone. Users can encounter different problems during an outage, including ChatGPT failing to load, conversations not responding, or requests taking unusually long to process.
As with the initial outage, OpenAI’s official status page currently says the company is fully operational and does not list an ongoing ChatGPT incident. OpenAI’s status history, however, shows that it resolved elevated errors affecting GPT-5.6 and GPT-5.6 Instant on paid plans on September 15.
It remains unclear whether the renewed spike represents a new incident or lingering problems from the earlier outage. If you are still having trouble with ChatGPT, let us know what issue you are experiencing in the comments below.
