The Witcher 3 Remastered Owners on Xbox Will Get a Free PC Version, Play Anywhere Support Also Confirmed at Launch

CD Projekt Red has confirmed another major detail ahead of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered, and it is a good news for Xbox players.

Xbox players are getting more from The Witcher 3 Remastered

According to CD Projekt Red’s latest statement on X, the Xbox version will become an Xbox Play Anywhere title alongside the September 29 Remastered Update. That means players who already own The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt on Xbox can receive the corresponding PC version via the Microsoft Store without buying the game again.

The update gives Xbox owners another reason to revisit Geralt’s adventure, especially for players who move between a console and a Windows PC. The Witcher 3 Remastered is already bringing a substantial collection of improvements, including upgraded visuals, gameplay changes, improved traversal, enhanced monster behavior and a revamped skill system.

There is also a Japan-specific change worth noting. CD Projekt Red says the Microsoft Store PC version released in Japan will use the CERO Z rating. The company describes this as the first time one of its PC titles has received a CERO rating, while existing PC versions on platforms such as Steam will not be affected.

The Witcher 3 is getting one more big comeback

The September 29 Remastered release will be available as a free upgrade for existing owners on eligible platforms, while Songs of the Past, another Witcher 3 expansion, is planned for 2027.

With Xbox Play Anywhere now confirmed, the September update looks increasingly like more than a visual refresh.
