Microsoft Is Finally Replacing Windows 11’s Outdated Voice Packages and Reset This PC UI

Microsoft says it is continuing to modernize Windows 11 by replacing older dialogs that still use legacy design language.

March Rogers, Microsoft’s Partner Director of Design, confirmed that the company is gradually working through older parts of the Windows interface, including dialogs that users may encounter less frequently.

Microsoft has previously outlined plans to rewrite older Windows dialogs using WinUI 3, bringing them closer to the design used across newer parts of Windows 11.

The Voice packages dialog is on Microsoft’s list

One interface scheduled for modernization is the Voice packages dialog found under Settings > Time & language > Speech.

The dialog currently opens in a separate window and still uses older Windows UI elements. Rogers confirmed that Microsoft has added the Voice packages interface to its modernization list.

Microsoft is also working on the Reset this PC interface, which still contains design elements dating back to Windows 8.1.

Reset this PC lets users reinstall Windows while choosing whether to keep personal files or remove everything.

Microsoft is modernizing more Windows 11 interfaces

The company has already started updating several long-standing Windows components.

A redesigned AutoPlay dialog recently appeared in a Windows 11 Beta build, replacing another interface that had retained older design elements.

Microsoft is also preparing a modern File Explorer Properties dialog as part of the same broader effort.

An experimental Windows 11 build has also introduced a redesigned File Explorer context menu.

Microsoft has not provided a timeline for when the Voice packages or Reset this PC redesigns will reach Windows 11 users.
