Meta is making its Ray-Ban Display glasses more useful with a new batch of features, which includes hands-free navigation, hologram video calls, a new Explore app and more ways to stay connected without pulling out a phone. The company is also expanding availability, with the glasses now reaching Canada, the UK, France, Italy and Germany alongside online ordering in the US and the new markets.

Meta Ray-Ban Display gets smarter navigation and hologram calls

The glasses are getting cycling and public transit directions, letting users ask for directions by voice and see turn-by-turn cycling routes or real-time transit departures directly on the display. Meta says walking navigation will also become more natural by using visible landmarks, such as telling someone to turn at a yellow house instead of simply naming a street.

Hologram is another major addition. After completing a short self-capture in the Meta AI app, users can create a photorealistic digital version of their face for video calls. The hologram uses the user’s voice to infer expressions and is designed to let people appear on calls without holding a phone in front of their face. The feature will begin rolling out in Early Access on WhatsApp in the US later this fall.

Explore, Dolby Atmos and smarter notifications are coming

Meta is also introducing Explore, a new on-glasses app where users can discover experiences built specifically for Ray-Ban Display. The company says these experiences will focus on learning, exploring and entertainment. The glasses are also becoming the first consumer device capable of capturing and experiencing video with Dolby Atmos, allowing recordings to include spatial surround sound.

Calendar features are getting an upgrade too. Users in the US can see meeting attendees, accept or decline invitations and join meetings directly from the glasses. Coming soon, mirrored phone notifications will appear on the Ray-Ban Display screen, with users able to control which notifications are shown. Meta is also bringing Threads Community Feeds to the glasses for following and reposting live conversations.

Ray-Ban Display is now available to order online in the US, Canada and UK, while France, Italy and Germany are receiving pre-orders ahead of wider availability on October 13. Moreover, the company has also expanded the Meta Ray-Ban glasses lineup and unveiled the new Meta VR glasses that launches in Spring 2027.
