The Witcher 3 Remastered is Out for XBOX & Other Platforms with a Huge Free Upgrade

If you have been wondering whether it is finally time to return to the Path, well, Geralt is back. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered is now available, bringing a major free upgrade to PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2. Existing owners can upgrade within the same platform ecosystem without buying the game again.

The Witcher 3 Remastered is much more than a graphics upgrade

CD PROJEKT RED has touched almost every part of the game with the new version. The upgrade brings improved lighting, textures, foliage, rendering, shadows, reflections and other visual improvements, while PC players get full path tracing, NVIDIA DLSS 4.5 with Ray Reconstruction, AMD FSR 4 and Intel XeSS 2.0.

The game also gets several gameplay changes. The skill system has been rebuilt around a proper skill tree, with three ranks for each skill and prerequisite abilities required to unlock new ones. Existing skill points are reset as part of the change.

There is also a new equipment appearance system that lets players change how their gear looks without changing its stats. Geralt and Roach have received movement and animation improvements, while combat gets a new dynamic camera designed to provide better visibility during fights.

The remaster also adds a new exploration camera with a wider field of view, improved target-lock switching and better Roach collision handling. Photo Mode has received a huge expansion too, including character placement, poses, weather controls, camera presets and a first-person option.

Existing owners also get both major expansions for free

Owners of the base game also get Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine at no additional cost. CD PROJEKT RED confirmed that both expansions are included with the Remastered version.

Nintendo Switch 2 owners get additional platform-specific features, including motion controls, mouse-sensor controls, touch input, Joy-Con 2 HD Rumble, VRR and HDR support. PS5 Pro also gets dedicated improvements, including PSSR, VRR, uncapped frame rates and updated graphics modes.

And if you want some extra gear, Twitch Drops are also available, with rewards including the Fire Horse saddle, blinders and saddlebags for watching eligible The Witcher 3 streams. Let’s not forget that CD PROJEKT RED is already working on Songs of the Past, a new paid expansion coming in 2027. That means The Witcher 3 is getting another major round of attention more than a decade after its original release.

For anyone who already owns The Witcher 3, the Remastered upgrade is available now and costs nothing extra.
