Microsoft has published its combined August and September 2026 Teams roundup, bringing new Copilot features, AI-powered meeting recaps, search improvements, and additional controls for IT administrators.

Microsoft also confirmed that future Teams feature roundups will move to a quarterly schedule.

Copilot gets easier to use inside Teams conversations

One of the biggest changes makes it faster to invoke Copilot directly from Teams conversations.

When users open Copilot from a conversation, Teams automatically includes the relevant conversation context. This reduces the need to manually copy messages or explain the discussion before asking Copilot for help.

Microsoft has also improved how users discover agents and apps. Teams search can now surface these tools more easily, giving users another way to find available integrations without navigating through separate menus.

Teams also improves file sharing. Users can search for cloud-based files directly from the attachment interface instead of locating the file elsewhere first.

On mobile, Microsoft has added support for desktop-style emoji shortcuts on Android and iOS. Text highlighting also works better in dark and high-contrast modes.

Teams meetings get AI-generated video recaps

Microsoft is expanding its AI-powered meeting recap features with video recaps.

The feature can generate highlights from recorded Teams meetings and combine them with AI-generated voice-over summaries, giving users a faster way to review important parts of a meeting.

Intelligent meeting recaps also gain a translation button. Users can switch between supported languages directly from the recap interface when reviewing meeting content.

Teams admins get better security and call monitoring

Microsoft has introduced several changes aimed at Teams administrators.

Admins now get improved management for real-time alerting rules alongside a new Security Detection Report.

Teams also brings call health monitoring and troubleshooting into a single view, which should make it easier for administrators to investigate connectivity or quality problems.

For organizations that regularly work across Microsoft 365 tenants, cross-tenant meetings now provide participant-level audit records for members belonging to the administrator’s organization.

Microsoft expands Teams devices, Phone, and frontline features

The August and September releases also include updates for Teams Phone and frontline workers, alongside a large number of newly certified Teams devices.

Microsoft certified hardware from EPOS, Q-SYS, Shure, Yealink, Neat, Barco, Logitech, and other manufacturers during the two-month period.

The combined release covers changes across Teams conversations, meetings, administration, calling, frontline workflows, and hardware as Microsoft prepares to shift its Teams update roundups to a quarterly format.

Microsoft has also made several other Teams changes recently. The company is putting advanced Teams Events features behind Enterprise licensing, while it is also removing Copilot from the Teams chat list.

Teams can now also automatically block all identified bots from joining meetings.
