Nvidia’s RTX 5070 Just Became Steam’s Most Popular GPU
Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 5070 is now the most popular GPU among Steam users, while 32GB of RAM has overtaken 16GB as the most common memory configuration.
According to Steam’s September 2026 Hardware Survey, the RTX 5070 now appears in 5.86% of surveyed systems, up sharply from 3.56% in August. That represents a gain of 2.30 percentage points in just one month.
RTX 50 series adoption accelerates
Other RTX 50-series graphics cards also gained ground during September. The RTX 5060 reached a 4.20% share, while the RTX 5060 Ti climbed to 3.87%.
Taken together, Nvidia’s RTX 50-series GPUs now account for 18.21% of systems included in the survey, compared with roughly 12.93% in August.
The latest results also underline Nvidia’s dominance near the top of Steam’s GPU rankings. No individually listed AMD Radeon or Intel graphics card appears among the top ten GPUs in the September survey.
32GB RAM overtakes 16GB
Steam users are also moving toward higher memory capacities, with systems featuring 32GB of RAM increasing from 37.45% in August to 42.22% in September, making 32GB the most common memory configuration in the survey.
Meanwhile, the share of PCs with 16GB of RAM fell from 41.20% to 37.82%.
The shift suggests that 32GB is quickly becoming the new mainstream configuration among Steam users as newer games and applications demand more memory.
1440p gains ground as Full HD drops below 50%
Higher display resolutions are becoming increasingly common as well.
The share of users running 2560×1440 displays increased from 21.86% to 27.04% during September. At the same time, 1920×1080 usage dropped to 47.91%.
Full HD remains the most widely used resolution on Steam, but fewer than half of surveyed systems now use it.
That shift lines up with the growing adoption of more powerful GPUs capable of running modern games at 1440p while maintaining higher frame rates.
AMD closes the gap on Intel
AMD also continued gaining ground in the Windows CPU market, now accounting for 47.41% of systems in the Steam survey, while Intel holds 52.59%.
That leaves a gap of just 5.18 percentage points between the two companies.
AMD has steadily increased its presence among PC gamers, and the September results bring its Windows CPU share closer to Intel than ever in the current survey data.
