Windows 11 Insider Beta Build Makes Cloud Rebuild Easier to Find
Windows 11 Insider Beta Preview Build 26220.9587 is now available, bringing Unicode 17.0 support, faster Settings performance, and easier access to Cloud Rebuild.
Windows 11 gains Unicode 17.0 support
One of the biggest changes in the new Beta build is support for Unicode 17.0 text shaping, which improves how Windows displays newly encoded characters and writing systems.
Unicode 17.0 introduces 4,803 new characters and adds four new scripts: Beria Erfe, Sidetic, Tai Yo, and Tolong Siki.
The change expands Windows 11 support for languages and writing systems covered by the latest Unicode standard and should improve text rendering in apps that rely on Windows text-shaping technologies.
Settings should load faster
Microsoft is also improving the performance of the Windows 11 Settings home page.
The company says the changes should reduce loading times in some scenarios, making the Settings app feel more responsive when users open its main page.
Microsoft continues to refine the Settings experience as more Windows configuration options move away from the legacy Control Panel.
Cloud Rebuild is easier to find
The update also gives Cloud Rebuild a new entry point under Settings > System > Recovery.
This makes the recovery feature easier to discover without requiring users to navigate through additional menus.
Cloud Rebuild gives users another way to recover or rebuild a Windows installation using files obtained from the cloud, and Microsoft has recently expanded the feature with options such as secure drive wiping.
As with other Windows Insider builds, some features may roll out gradually, meaning not every Beta Channel user will necessarily see all changes immediately.
In other Windows 11 news, Microsoft recently released the Windows 11 26H2 KB5121794 Enablement Package. Early testing also suggests that Windows 11 26H2 can cut RAM usage by up to 2GB, although the results differ on systems with only 8GB of memory.
