Many Windows 10 users choose to rely on Windows Defender for malware and virus protection. According to the latest real-world AV-Comparatives tests, they actually made a good choice.

AV-Comparatives recently published their February 2018 Real-World Protection Test results revealing that Windows Defender blocked absolutely all the threats used in the tests.

Windows Defender did great at URL malware detection

The tests evaluated the behavior of 18 antivirus software when accessing thousands of malicious URLs, malware hosted on servers and IP addresses, and more.

Interestingly enough, Windows Defender was able to block every single threat that researchers threw at it. Indeed, Microsoft’s cloud-based protection feature is an insanely amazing feature.

However, as AV-Comparatives explains, keep in mind that while Windows 10’s built-in antivirus managed to block all the cyber threats encountered during tests, this doesn’t mean that it will necessarily have the same success rate on the web.

The results simply confirmed that Windows Defender successfully blocked all the malware samples used in the tests, not all the threats lurking on the Internet.

Apart from Windows Defender, three other antivirus software solutions managed to get a clean score:
