Microsoft adds the Undo Autofill feature in Edge Canary

Microsoft is testing an Undo Autofill feature in the Edge Canary browser, which helps you get rid of inaccurate information that may have been filled by Edge from saved information in the wallet or Password Manager.

Microsoft Edge gains Autofill undo support

Web browsers such as Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge come with the ability to save and autofill your addresses and phone numbers the next time you visit related websites that request your information. The information will be autofilled as you start typing your name, among other details.

Until now, you either had to disable autofill or remove individual entries if, for instance, the browser filled in an old address, or you didn’t want to enter your phone number due to privacy reasons. The situations mentioned above demand an Undo Autofill feature, which the Google Chrome release already supports, and a flag is available for the same.

UndoAutofill Allows reverting Autofill filling operations. Replaces Clear Form functionality – Mac, Windows, Linux, ChromeOS, Android, Fuchsia, Lacros.

To avoid privacy concerns, the Edge wallet doesn’t save or show your payment and address info in the browser when required to fill in on websites by default.

Microsoft is now testing the feature in Edge Canary. Here is how you can use it:

How do I use the Undo Autofill feature in Edge?

  1. Open Edge and visit Settings > Profiles > Open Wallet.
  2. Under Personal Info, ensure that Save and Fill Basic Info and Automatically Fill My Info on Sign-Up Forms. are turned on.
  3. Now, if you visit any shopping website or one that requires entering your address or phone number, Edge will autofill it as you start to type, or you can right-click and select Addresses and More under Fill in Form and choose from the personal info displayed. If you’ve entered the wrong info, right-click and select Undo Autofill; all filled form information, or individual entries, will be cleared.

The feature is being A/B tested on select users in Canary, with no guarantee that it will make it into release like other experimental features.

What’s your take on Microsoft Edge getting an Undo Autofill option? Let’s talk about this in the comments section below.
