Youtube AI features

YouTube has finally announced that AI capabilities will be coming to the platform in the following weeks, after it has begun testing them on a limited number of channels, according to the latest entry in its experimental features blog.

The announcement comes weeks after YouTube unveiled a plethora of new features, including animated buttons, faster playback speed, stable volume, lock screen while playing YouTube, and many more.

Now, it seems that the platform is experimenting with AI capabilities, including AI summarization, and a chatbot that will tell you more about the videos you’re watching.

New generative AI experiments: We’re exploring ways to integrate generative AI into the YouTube experience to make it easier and more enjoyable for you to use YouTube. We’re testing two experiments: comment topics summarized by AI, which helps you see themes in large comment sections more easily and a conversational AI tool, which you can use to ask questions about videos you watch. These experiments are very small and availability varies.

YouTube’s AI features: What can you do with them?

The first of these AI features is comment topics summarization by AI. YouTube will release a new option, Topics when clicking on the Comments pane on YouTube for mobile.

There, once users click on the new option, they will be able to see comment topics summarized by AI. However, AI only summarized comments that are approved by the channel, so blocked comments, under-review comments, or comments that contain muted words are not taken into consideration.

YouTube says this feature will help inspire users and video creators to engage with others watching the same clip.

Creators can use these comment summaries to more quickly jump into comment discussions on their videos, or to draw inspiration for new content based on what their audiences are discussing.

For now, the experiment is only available to videos in the English language that have a large comments section.

The second feature is an AI chatbot that users can access to ask anything they want about the video they’re watching. It’s worth mentioning that doing so won’t stop the video playback, so it will keep running even when you’re engaged in a conversation with the AI tool.Youtube AI features

To help you dive deeper into the content you’re watching, we’re experimenting with a conversational AI tool. This tool lets you get answers to questions about the video you’re watching, recommendations for related content, and more, all without interrupting playback.

The AI chatbot will be available to a limited number of YouTube Premium users on Android devices.
