AI PCs Projection for 2030

AI-capable PCs will soon be hot-selling products as manufacturers continue integrating more AI-oriented features into devices!

A report by Canalys shares a projection of an increased adoption rate for AI PCs among users.

It predicts that 19% of the PCs sold in 2024 will have Artificial Intelligence capabilities, increasing to 37% in 2025, followed by 53% in 2026 and 60% in 2027. And by 2030, nearly 100% of those shipped will be AI PCs!

While these figures may look far-fetched to a few, Microsoft has already called 2024 the year of AI PCs.

The Redmond-based tech giant’s idea of an AI PC includes an NPU (Neural Processing Unit) chip, Microsoft Copilot, a dedicated Copilot key, and the latest CPU and GPU to perform resource-intensive tasks seamlessly.

Manufacturers like Intel and AMD are already working alongside Microsoft in the push for AI PCs. With these becoming mainstream, Intel and AMD stand a chance to recover the losses accrued over the last few years.

In 2024, everyone is competing in the AI race. Microsoft is planning to purchase 1.8 million AI chips, Intel is unveiling AI-oriented chips, and AMD is bringing new AI-powered processors.

Besides, we can’t forget NVIDIA, a company whose stock value surged ever since the AI revolution, and it soon became the third-largest company globally in terms of market capitalization.

With features like Copilot and AI Explorer (to be released soon) in Windows and Microsoft’s plans to invest more in the technology, the aim of AI-powered PCs in every home will be achieved sooner than many expected. Maybe not by 2030, but the day is not too far away!

It looks like no one, be it the manufacturer or buyers, wants to miss out on AI!
