Celebrating 20 years of Xbox

Celebrating 20 years of Xbox is a book that chronicles everything any avid Xbox lover needs to know about the original Xbox. The book is not funded by Microsoft or Xbox. Instead, it’s published by passionate individuals of the XboxEra community.

The first edition, announced in 2020 and published 2 years later, came to life thanks to the Kickstarted campaigns.

Back in 2020, we announced a Kickstarter for a book. At first, a simple venture into book publishing, ended up turning in a 2+ year saga as we dealt with pandemics, global conflicts and on a personal level, massive life changing upheavals.

The book quickly sold out and it went on to be purchased by a lot of people, something XboxEra didn’t anticipate. So, to make up for those who haven’t managed to get their hands on the first edition, the community is working on a second edition of the book, and they’ve already started a Kickstarter campaign for it.

If you’re interested in pledging a sum to the campaign, you can do it here. And you can get your hands on the second edition of the Celebrating 20 years of Xbox book which will include, according to the Kickstarter campaign:

  • 360+ pages containing a full and detailed history and timeline of every game ever released on the Original Xbox Console.
  • Special double page spreads for historic titles that became synonymous with the Xbox Brand, featuring games like Halo: Combat Evolved, Fable, Halo 2, Knight of the Old Republic, Splinter Cell, Jade Empire, Ninja Gaiden, Project Gotham Racing, Crimson Skies and more.
  • Excerpts and interviews with your Xbox Community, with contributions from ‘Founding Father of Xbox’ Ed Fries, as well as journalists like Tom Warren and Jeff Grubb, or amazing content creators, like Klobrille, ColtEastwood, Rand Al Thor 19, ForgeLabs, ModernVintageGamer, Miles Dompier and more.

You won’t have to wait for long to get your hands on the second edition of the Celebrating 20 Years of Xbox book, as there is a pretty straightforward timeline for it.

  • February: Kickstarter Campaign launch
  • March: Campaign funded
  • April: Printing of the book
  • May: Shipping

In 20 years, Xbox has come a long way, and recently Microsoft announced the Game Hubs for it – a platform where Xbox users and lovers can make memories playing video games on the console.
