During the Integrated Systems Europe in Barcelona, Cisco, Microsoft, and Samsung announced a new meeting room solution for hybrid meetings.

With the combined collaboration, the three companies aim to deliver seamless and inclusive video meetings for products from the Cisco Room Series.

Cisco, Microsoft, and Samsung will make 5K, AI-powered meetings more accessible

The vast majority of meetings have remote participants and less than 15% are equipped with video conferencing technology. The market is demanding for easy to set up collaboration experiences and this is exactly what this project plans to address.

“Through our collaboration with these industry leaders, we’re delivering something we call Distance Zero, eliminating second-class experiences no matter where you are working.”

Jeetu Patel, EVP and General Manager, Security & Collaboration, Cisco

The companies plan to equip the conference rooms with a smart video system that will deliver immersive collaboration to all participants.

To achieve this, the companies are utilizing the Front Row feature from Microsoft Teams Rooms, with Samsung’s newly announced 105-inch Smart Signage or Samsung 4K Smart Signage screens.

These features will be combined with certified Cisco RoomOS collaboration appliances to eliminate the distance between participants.

So, what does this mean for users?

  • Immersive views thanks to Samsung’s 5K and 4K displays.
  • Advanced camera, audio, and speech features thanks to the power of AI.
  • Easier management and deployment for administrators with Microsoft Teams Admin Center and Cisco Control Hub.
  • Improved scalability that allows companies to easily deploy hybrid work meeting environments.
  • The ability for users to join Microsoft Teams or Webex meetings without extra configuration or rebooting.

Cisco still doesn’t have support for 21:9 displays, but that should change starting from March this year. If you’re visiting ISE, you can try integrated video solutions on the show floor.

This seems like a great step forward for hybrid work and immersive meetings, and we can’t wait to see it in action. Speaking of hybrid meetings, Microsoft announced a Content Camera feature for more immersive Teams meetings that should be available soon.

Microsoft Mesh is now available as well, so you might want to give it a try if you’re not opposed to such a feature. What are your thoughts on this collab? Hit us up in the comments section and let us know!
