As you might know, Microsoft plans to end classic Outlook by 2025 and replace it with the new Outlook, which is faster, and better integrated with the other Microsoft 365 apps.

However, until then, it seems that the Redmond-based tech giant will keep releasing features, updates, and improvements for the classic Outlook. Including Copilot. According to the latest entry in the Microsoft 365 Roadmap, classic Outlook will also get Copilot, next year, in 2024.

A preview of it will be released in January 2024, followed by a full rollout in March 2024. So, if you’re not switched to the new and improved Outlook, in just half a year, you’ll get the Copilot AI, as well.

Microsoft recently announced Copilot is coming to Outlook users, but it seems only the new Outlook is getting it. Arriving on the platform in November, users will be able to quickly compose emails and replies with the help of this AI assistant.

It seems that Copilot in classic Outlook will be able to do the same things, more or less, so Outlook users who haven’t switched to the new version, will not miss a lot of things. This is only if Microsoft doesn’t add new features to Copilot in Outlook, which is highly unlikely, as the Redmond-based tech giant is placing all the bets on its AI assistant.

So what is Copilot capable of doing in classic Outlook, you might ask? Well, follow along.

The roadmap for Microsoft 365 doesn’t reveal much, but it seems Copilot will let users summarize email threads and extract key points from emails.

If you’ve followed our story on Copilot coming to Outlook, the AI assistant will be able to compose emails and replies for users on the new Outlook. However, it seems that old Outlook won’t get this feature.copilot classic outlook

However, summarizing emails and extracting key points from them would be of great help. Can Microsoft add composing features to Copilot in classic Outlook? Well, considering the version will be deprecated in 2 years, there is no point in spending resources on it.

But who knows? Microsoft might surprise us all.
