Three years after it made a strong impression at E3 2014, Cuphead, the retro-looking run and gun platform game from indie developer Studio MDHR is now available on Xbox One, Windows 10 and Steam. Cuphead was clearly one of the most anticipated games to launch this Fall, and early reviews have been praising the 1930’s cartoon style as well as the challenging but rewarding gameplay.

The game is just a $19.99 purchase and it’s eligible for Xbox Play Anywhere if you buy it from the Windows Store. Cuphead also supports local multiplayer, and you should definitely try it with your friends who enjoy old school classics shoot-’em-ups such as the Contra or Metal Slug series. You can read Cuphead’s official description below:

Cuphead is a classic run and gun action game heavily focused on boss battles. Inspired by cartoons of the 1930s, the visuals and audio are painstakingly created with the same techniques of the era, i.e. traditional hand drawn cel animation, watercolor backgrounds, and original jazz recordings.

Play as Cuphead or Mugman (in single player or local co-op) as you traverse strange worlds, acquire new weapons, learn powerful super moves, and discover hidden secrets while you try to pay your debt back to the devil!

Do you expect Cuphead to become an instant classic, or do you think its challenging gameplay could make casual gamers unsure to try it? Let us know below.
