With Microsoft and Sony finally playing nice on gaming and streaming efforts, Xbox and PlayStation gamers alike have been waiting for the first game to offer a true cross platform play experience. Launching today, Dauntless is that game, and is available on Xbox One, Windows 10, and PS4. Epic Games announced Dauntless on Twitter, even offering instructions to gamers to properly link their Xbox Live, PC, and PS4 accounts.

Dauntless is a “free-to-play, co-op action RPG,” testing the waters with its launch today in cross-platform play. Unbeknownst to most, Dauntless has been in development for the past four years. For the uninitiated, Xbox Wire offers ten strategies for gamers to keep in mind when playing Dauntless for the first time on Xbox One.
Last week, Eurogamer compared Dauntless to be in the same vein as Monster Hunter and it seems to be a fair assessment. Here is the console announce trailer for Dauntless on Xbox One and PS4.
It will be interesting to see how Dauntless fares in cross-platform play. As Microsoft said in its holiday commercial last year, “when everyone plays, we all win.” Personally, I hope to see Microsoft and Sony work on making more games (past, present, and future) available for cross-platform play.
