The already growing market share for Windows Phone in Europe could continue to rise on the back of an international deal between Deutsche Telekom and Microsoft. News of the deal broke today at the Mobile World Conference in Barcelona Spain. The agreement is a continuation of a partnership between Microsoft and the telecom giant that has existed for years.
Details of the deal were released by the Microsoft news center and focus on how the hope is to build the Microsoft ecosystem in which they stated
“Through this partnership, both Deutsche Telekom and Microsoft aim to expand the Microsoft ecosystem to new consumer and business customers, enabling people to do and achieve more. The agreement includes a joint international marketing campaign spanning advertising, sales support and training, custom application development, and experiential activities, tailored by market.”
Both sides specifically mention business and personal use for Microsoft devices. The Managing Director of Telekom Deutschland GmbH spoke on the ease of switching between personal and business devices within the Microsoft ecosystem
“Together with Microsoft’s broad portfolio of devices, services and platforms, we reach customers who wish to switch their phone quickly and easily between professional and private use. Thus, we are able to provide a seamless user experience with benefits for both our private and our business customers.”
In addition to the partnership with Microsoft, Deutsche Telekom will also carry the Lumia 640 in countries in which it will be available.
Deutsche Telekom is in 12 countries throughout Europe and has a strong presence in Germany. The deal with Microsoft is a strong push within a continent that is already receiving Windows Phone better than The United States.
