On Friday, December 11th, Microsoft rolled out the very first update to the Continuum Display Dock for Windows 10 Mobile. For those of you who wondering how to update your display dock, here’s how to do it. It’s actually a really simple process.

First, head over to the Windows Store on your Lumia 950 or Lumia 950 XL and update the Gadgets app. You should see an update pending for Gadgets (if it hasn’t already been updated).

Once you update the Gadgets app, plug in the Display Dock to the power outlet, and plug in your phone to the Dock. The Display Dock will appear as “HD-500” in the Gadgets app.

Launch the Gadgets app and you will see a small message at the bottom of the app informing you that an update is required for best results and performance (version 4.0). Tap on the “update now” button.

Your Lumia 950 or Lumia 950 XL will now download the update and install it to the Display Dock (how cool is that?) Once the update is done (it takes less than a minute), you will be asked to unplug the Display Dock from the power outlet and plug it back in.

There you go! Your Display Dock is now running the latest firmware update available. Nothing new screams out at you feature-wise, but we’ll take performance improvements anytime!
