It’s been a long, long time since we’ve had the pleasure of welcoming another Fallout game into the world – almost exactly five years, in fact. Fallout is a beloved franchise for more reasons than I could count. Fallout brings an unmatched 1950’s-esque charm to the classic post-nuclear wasteland genre that’s been in fiction for ages. Fallout 4 has made it abundantly clear from its announcement back during E3 2015 that it intends to shatter our expectations, and then some.

According to this tweet from Bethesda, Fallout 4 has finally gone gold after its seven years of development. For those who aren’t privy to this lingo, “going gold” essentially means that the game is done and ready to be shipped off to retailers. Of course, Bethesda is still working on making sure its launch is smooth – they now have a few weeks to work on the day-one patch that will address many of the classic Bethesda bugs as they possibly can.
As a die-hard Fallout fan myself (along with many other people) this news is putting some spring in my step. It’s been a long time since we’ve been able to visit the Fallout universe, and knowing that this entry in the franchise is finally off the presses is pretty exciting, to say the least.
