Earlier today we reported on the fact that a new blog post from Major Nelson finally revealed all the features that will soon be introduced on Microsoft’s Xbox One gaming console. While the post originally mentioned the fact that “new features will roll out to the Preview audience in waves,” we have just learned that the initial Preview build will out to the first wave of people at 6 PM PDT today (June 6th), that is if the PST in the tweet is just a typo

As seen above, the announcement about the build roll out was made by Mike Ybarra on Twitter. It is worth noting, though, that to currently receive this initial Preview build you need to already be a part of the Xbox Preview program, which an invite only program.

As we reported previously, the preview build is expected to be a doozy. Over time, it is promising to bring Cortana to Xbox One, a new Game Collection Interface, a unified Xbox and Windows Store, a more personal activity feed, and much more.  Additionally, Major Nelson also confirmed that Microsoft will be merging the Windows Insider Program with the Xbox One Preview Program to “streamline feedback and updates.” An opt-in program will also let fans choose how they want to participate and help the Xbox team gather feedback those new features before the public release later in the summer.
