Bethesda Softworks’ 2022 first-person action adventure game Ghostwire Tokyo has now been played by more than 5 million gamers. This comes just two months following the game’s release on Xbox Series consoles after a year of PlayStation 5 exclusivity. The announcement was made via the game’s official Twitter account, with a post thanking all those who have played the game.

Interestingly, those 5 million reportedly don’t include those who played the game on Xbox Game Pass and PlayStation Plus Extra. The Series X|S launch included the Spider’s Thread update which added new areas, enemies, mission, challenges and more to the game. It was available day one on Xbox Game Pass.
Ghostwire Tokyo was developed by Tango Gameworks, the same studio that brought us the surprise hit Hi-Fi Rush earlier this year. The game tasks players with unraveling the mystery behind a string of disappearances in “a beautifully haunted Tokyo.”
Face the unknown, uncover the truth and save the city
Tokyo is overrun by deadly supernatural forces as a dangerous occultist causes the city’s population to vanish in an instant. Join forces with a powerful spectral entity on their quest for vengeance and master a powerful arsenal of abilities to unravel the dark truth behind the disappearance as you FACE THE UNKNOWN in Ghostwire: Tokyo.
