Xbox Store gifting is one of the most requested features from Xbox gamers, especially since it is a ‘taken-for-granted’ feature on Steam, for example.
Both Windows Store and Xbox Store do not support gifting as yet, but earlier this month Microsoft confirmed during a conversation at PAX West that game gifting and wishlists were coming soon.
Looks like, it is actually coming soon. Reddit user liamcurtis1718 has shared a screenshot of Xbox Store listing with an option to buy the game as a gift. Another user on the thread has confirmed that on clicking the ‘Buy as Gift’ button, you’ll have the option to send it to a friend on your friend list or you can enter an email address.
It makes sense for the game gifting feature to arrive for the general public soon with the holiday season fast approaching. Also, since the Xbox Store and Windows Store are essentially the same, the feature would probably be functional across both store fronts at the same time.
The feature is live for Alpha Insiders on Xbox One. If you’re an Insider, let us know in the comments if it is reflected on your storefront.
