Gmail app for Android give users the ability to sign in to the app with their existing non-gmail account such as Outlook or Yahoo. However, if you’re a fan of Gmail’s features such as improved spam protection and better inbox organization without ditching your existing Outlook email address, Google has a solution for you.
They call it Gmailify, which give users the ability to login with their existing Outlook or Yahoo account, and use all the Gmail features without the need of a Gmail account.
The process is quite simple: it doesn’t require users to install anything on their device or PC. All you have to do is login with your Outlook account in the Gmail app, and tap on Gmailify — it’s that simple. After enabling, you’ll be able to use all the exciting Gmail features on your Android device with your existing Outlook address.
At any point in time, if you wish to unlink your account and use the default features, you can do so from within the app. Google said the company is working to bring more email providers to the compatibility list, but at the moment, it’s only Yahoo and Outlook/Hotmail. In the meantime, check out the video below to see it in action:
Of course Microsoft is upping its game, too, rolling out the latest Outlook.com improvements from preview, but if you’re stuck in a Gmail paradigm, this may be the app for you.
