Last night, several lucky gamers participating in the New Xbox One Experience (NXOE) discovered Cortana. Microsoft has mentioned before that Cortana would not be available for the Xbox One until next year, but it seems like Microsoft is giving testers an early look at the personal assistant. First, in order to get Cortana on the Xbox One, you must be a participant of the NXOE preview. Follow the below steps to get Cortana working:
- Double tap the Xbox home button to open the guide
- Go down to the settings tab (gear icon)
- Press left to enter the settings area
- Press up until the green highlight disappears
- Now tap the “A” button a few times on the controller to have Cortana appear
As you can see in the video below, Cortana can give you the weather, show you your calendar and make appointments, as well as track flights. Cortana is still incomplete but is slated to be more gamer-friendly later this year for preview members, and is expected to be publically launched next year.
“For those who have asked about Cortana, our plan is to add Cortana to the Xbox One experience preview later this year. From there, we’ll ensure that the experience is tuned for gamers before we officially launch Cortana in 2016,” Microsoft stated in an official blog post.
You can watch the video below showing you how to enable Cortana on the Xbox One. Enjoy!
