Windows 11 WinRar

Despite Windows 11’s native RAR app, many are still using WinRar as their default archiver. However, if you happen to install the app on a Windows 11 device that’s not set to English as its default language, the operating system will encounter a very weird and bad-looking bug.

The File Explorer’s context menu will be botched and cut, displaying a deformed design that’s, quite honestly, horrible. A Reddit user bumped into the bug after installing WinRar on their Portuguese-based Windows 11.

While initially thinking the bug appeared because of WinRar, it seems that other Windows 11 users have encountered the bug without having to install the once-most popular archiver in the world.

Instead, the bug happens because Windows 11 thinks the icon label text is too long, and so it will find ways to fit all of it without messing up the font. It will, however, mess up the design—really bad, if you ask us.

The text for English is short and suitable, but other languages, such as Portuguese, might not be so lucky. Installing various apps will cause the context menu to encounter the bug.

What to do? If you can, install the English pack for Windows 11 and use the operating system with this language. You can also try to trace the app that caused the bug and uninstall it.

Remember that no matter how much you love WinRar, you no longer have to install it on Windows 11, as the operating system now has its native RAR tool, and it’s much better.

Have you bumped into this issue?
