Intel CPU market

Intel easily dominated the global CPU market, shipping over 50 million units worldwide, according to the latest statistics by Canalys, far exceeding the second AMD, and the third Apple, with 8 million units, and 6 million units sold respectively.

The tech giant had a market share of 78% in Q4 2023, and according to statistics, is showing a stable performance, with a growth of 3% as you can see in the image below.Intel CPU market

AMD comes in second, with sales of 8 million units, and a decent market share at 13%, while Apple managed a moderate 6 million units figure. Both companies experienced a slight decrease in their performance, with AMD experiencing a -1%, and Apple -4%.

In terms of revenue, Intel managed to increase it by 2%, to $41 billion, while Apple performing much better here, with an 8% growth, and $8 billion in revenues. AMD comes in third with 7% growth, and $5 billion in revenue.

MediaTek, Qualcomm, or ARM haven’t managed to break in, however, things are about to change, as Qualcomm is set to enter the CPU market this summer, delivering its first chipsets to the future Windows AI PCs, and we have to say, it’s looking quite exciting.

So as Microsoft welcomes another player into its Windows PCs sphere, both Intel and AMD will have to keep up with the ARM-inclined CPUs, and the new NPUs, which are starting to take hold. It will be interesting to see how these three companies will evolve and ignite the competition.

Intel is still very much preferred even though AMD has great CPU options almost on every level, and the company was able to develop units that surpassed Intel CPUs in certain aspects. However, as Qualcomm is coming with a fresh new perspective, the competition is about to get tighter.
