Keyboard and Mouse support on Xbox is something that has been discussed by fans of the console for a very long time. One year ago, Phil Spencer promised that the feature is “Still on the way,” and more recently in June of 2016 he noted that the long requested feature is “still months away.” Well, the head of Microsoft’s Xbox branch is at it again and has taken to Twitter to respond to a developer’s calls about Keyboard and Mouse controls on consoles (via

As seen above, this time, Phil Spencer specifically responded to a fan who pointed to comments from Overwatch Game Director Jeffrey Kaplan in regards to keyboard and mouse support on Xbox One and PS4. If you missed it, the situation at heart is the fact that Vice President of Blizzard Entertainment came out and advocated against keyboard and mouse support on consoles after users thought of it as cheating.

Phil Spencer, nonetheless, believes that Mice and Keyboard are an advantage “in some cases.” And, as he has said in the past, the head of Xbox believes that he is “fan of giving the tools to studios and they’ll do what’s best for their games.”

While the comments don’t mean that we will see Keyboard and Mouse support on Xbox anytime soon, they are quite interesting. Some fans, in fact, have responded back to Spencer and have pointed that support for Mouse and Keyboard could be added, but with the option for game developers to turn if off. Other users, however, have defended Blizzard’s side of things and pointed that the comments from Jeffrey Kaplan are only about console users who use converters to get an unfair advantage, and not really about keyboard and mouse itself.

Where do you stand on this debate? Do you think that Keyboard and Mouse support is good for Xbox games? Or would you rather stick to using a controller? Sound off, and let us know what you think in the comments below!
