Microsoft has rolled out a new vertical tabs feature to Edge Insiders on the Canary channel that makes it easier for users to manage multiple active tabs simultaneously. Spotted by Aggiornamenti Lumia, the feature is rolling out to select Insiders running Microsoft Edge Canary Build 86.0.597.0, and it brings an option to stack browser tabs vertically.

Microsoft Edge Canary Insiders running the latest version should be able to see the new vertical tabs experience by default. To use this feature, open multiple tabs in your browser, and then click the “switch to vertical tabs” option (shown in the screenshot below). A new vertical panel will now pop-up on the screen, and it will allow you to reorder, manage, and open a new tab. The new panel makes better use of the extra vertical space in Microsoft Edge, and it comes with a “Pin pane” icon.

The new vertical tabs feature has been designed to make browsing with a bunch of active tabs more convenient and helps to identify tabs at a glance. As of this writing, the functionality is only available in the Canary channel of Microsoft Edge, and it’s now just a matter of time until Microsoft rolls it out in the Dev channel too.
