Microsoft is prepping Microsoft 365 for some important GDPR changes in an update available now. GDPR, which stands for General Data Protection Regulation, started off as a regulatory requirement, but Microsoft saw it as an opportunity to gain trust with its customers and provide greater transparency. Microsoft hopes to help Microsoft 365 enterprise customers utilize Azure to identify and protect pertinent company data to support GDPR compliance.

As noted on the Microsoft blog, The newest update gives Microsoft 365 the following capabilities:

  • Compliance Manager general availability for Azure, Dynamics 365, and Office 365 Business and Enterprise customers in public clouds.
  • Compliance Score availability for Office 365.
  • Azure Information Protection scanner general availability.

In this video, Microsoft 365 team members explain what GDPR is and how customers can use the new update.

Besides the newest update, Microsoft 365 can help customers protect their data in apps and in the cloud with Azure, as well as support data protection across multiple platforms. Also, Microsoft 365 Compliance Manager is a Microsoft Cloud services application that helps enterprises evaluate compliance obligations like GDPR. The Compliance Manager is now generally available for Azure, Dynamics 365, and Office 365 Business.

Microsoft has a free GDPR assessment available to see what Microsoft 365 can offer your business. Microsoft also offers a free GDPR white paper and eBook for those interested.
