The world’s leading independent ad tech platform has announced a culminating surprise for its Summarize Summit in London. With the week of announcements leading up to today, AppNexus announced that they are expanding their partnership with Microsoft to include video.

Now Microsoft will utilize AppNexus’ video supply-side platform (SSP) to gain profit from use of video media. With the SSP, Microsoft is able to make a profit through instream monetization, for real-time bidding, outstream monetization, and VAST videos for apps and games.

According to thedrum.com, Microsoft’s Barry Dougan explained that the company is “scaling the AppNexus Video solution across additional markets and formats, making a large pool of video inventory available for demand partners, with phased activation planned throughout the rest of the year.”

AppNexus already had an impressive history with Microsft. Last December we saw the two expanding their partnership for supporting up to 58 different markets, so the promotion to video inclusion isn’t really that surprising. Currently, the AppNexus Video SSP is still in closed beta but it is said to be coming out publicly towards the end of this year’s second quarter.
