Microsoft bids farewell to upload via URL feature in OneDrive

OneDrive is frequently getting new features, and recently Microsoft introduced a new feature that allowed users to upload files via URLs.
Unfortunately, the company has decided to scrap this feature entirely, according to the latest announcement.
The URL upload feature is being retired from OneDrive at the end of March
In a recent post on the Microsoft Dev blog, the company announced that they will retire the URL upload feature from OneDrive.
As you may know, this was introduced as an experimental feature and it allowed users to upload files directly to OneDrive without having to download them beforehand.
This is incredibly convenient for certain users, but according to Microsoft, the feature wasn’t popular or used by the majority of the users.
On top of that, this feature had high maintenance costs and it didn’t align with Microsoft’s vision that OneDrive as a cloud storage should be used for syncing files between devices.
The feature will be retired on March 29 and you won’t be able to use it anymore. On the bright side, all files that have been uploaded with this method will remain unaffected.
Speaking of OneDrive, a few keen-eyed users found out that you can deploy OneDrive folders outside of web interfaces, and maybe you can use some of them instead of this feature.
