Microsoft has finally brought the new Copilot experience, which it introduced a while back on the desktop, to Edge on Android in the Canary version, albeit behind a flag. Here’s how to get it.
Copilot is an AI companion integrated into Microsoft Edge, designed to improve your browsing experience with page summaries, answering your questions, automated tasks, and integration with other Microsoft services.
Recently, Microsoft pushed a major update to Copilot with Voice mode, a new UI, modern design, and performance improvements. While the new Copilot UI is already available on desktop and Copilot websites, it has still not been rolled out to users running Edge on Android.
Thanks to the new Edge Canary update 133.0.2997.0, Microsoft offers a new flag that, when enabled, changes the Copilot experience to the new look when you click on the Copilot icon.
It’s worth noting that until now, in Edge Canary and Dev, Microsoft offered a “|Copilot update” flag, which redirected users to the Copilot app when needed, but that’s no longer necessary. Follow the instructions below to get the new look for Copilot in Edge on Android:
- Launch the latest Edge Canary.
- Visit edge://flags.
- Find “Copilot Composer Fundamental” and select Enabled.
- Restart Edge.
Now, tap on the new Copilot icon on the search bar to interact with the updated Copilot. This update brings the same Copilot interface that desktop users have been enjoying for a while.
Related to Android, Microsoft Edge now supports the Self-Update feature, similar to Edge on desktop. This allows you to visit the Settings and About Edge page to check if an update or new version is available without needing to visit the Google Play Store frequently to install Edge updates
What’s your take on the new Copilot interface? Do you like it? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
