- Edge will apparently pinpoint the least used apps and suggest hiding them.
- You'll be able to choose which apps you want to hide from the sidebar.
Microsoft added some of the most useful features in a while to its AI-backed browser, Edge: for example, it was recently discovered by a Windows enthusiast that Edge will soon have a live translation option embedded in its PDF viewer.
The same Windows enthusiast, @Leopeva64, now discovered that Edge will soon release a declutter option that will help users declutter their sidebar.
The Edge Sidebar can contain multiple apps, including the popular Bing Chat. And if we take into account the fact that Bing Chat now has plugins, which are apps on their own, Edge can become loaded with too many apps.
However, it seems that Microsoft will soon let Edge declutter some of these apps, by allowing users to hide the apps. This way, the sidebar could become far more organized automatically.
Declutter the Edge sidebar: How to start it?
It seems, at first, that the option to declutter the Edge sidebar might appear as a pop-up. We took a closer look at the Edge sidebar in Edge Dev, which is a special Edge version where experimental features are enabled, and we couldn’t find the option.
However, Windows enthusiasts, such as @Leopeva64, have received the option to declutter their sidebar, as you can see in the picture below.
Microsoft Edge might choose to ask you to hide aka declutter your Sidebar, by managing the apps that you haven’t opened recently. As the panel shows, you’ll be given two options: to hide the apps, effectively decluttering the Edge sidebar, or keep all the apps intact.
The panel also lets you choose which apps you want to hide, by allowing a checking the box option. It’s not yet known if Edge will disable these apps and stop them from performing while the browser is open, or if it will just hide them while keeping their performance on track.
Either way, this pop-up should appear more frequently to Edge Dev users, and in the following days, we should know how Microsoft Edge declutters the sidebar.
