Microsoft Edge Game Assist (Preview) is a new feature for Windows Insiders in the Dev Channel, designed to bring a gaming-centric browsing experience right into the Xbox Game Bar.
It’s a special preview of Microsoft Edge optimized for PC gaming, and it’s available to try out in the Dev Channel, after installing the latest build, KB5048761. It was previously teased out earlier this year.
It’s always frustrating to have to tab out of a game to look something up, whether it’s a walkthrough, a guide, or just a good meme. Game Assist is designed to improve PC gaming with quick access to your browser data from your PC and mobile devices while playing.
You can open Game Assist by pressing WIN + G in a supported game to open the Xbox Game Bar and then selecting the Microsoft Edge icon. You can also enable Game Assist to open automatically when you press WIN + G in a supported game by going to Xbox Game Bar settings.
Game Assist can be pinned to a side of your game for easy access, and it’s fully integrated with the Xbox Game Bar’s built-in widgets to help you get back to your game quickly. The platform also supports all the extensions you use in Microsoft Edge, so you can get things done while you play.
To start with Game Assist, visit the Microsoft Edge Game Assist website in Microsoft Edge or check out the Microsoft Edge Game Assist collection in the Microsoft Edge Add-ons Store.
As a reminder, this preview feature is still in development, and it may not work correctly in some situations. Game Assist is available to Windows Insiders in the Dev Channel in the United States, Canada, Australia, and the United Kingdom.
