Microsoft Teams is also getting a few new Copilot-powered features. First, Copilot can now understand and answer questions about visual content shared during meetings, including PowerPoint presentations and web content. Microsoft says the feature works across conversations, chat, and onscreen presentations. It’s coming in public preview in early 2025.
Additionally, Copilot in Teams will soon be able to translate entire PowerPoint presentations into one of 40 languages while maintaining the overall design of each slide. The feature will be generally available in 2025.
In Outlook, Microsoft says that Copilot can help users schedule focus time or one-on-ones with colleagues. It looks across both users’ calendars to find the best time. Copilot in Outlook is generally available by the end of November.
Microsoft is also expanding the availability of Microsoft Copilot in Microsoft 365. First, Microsoft Viva Insights is now included in Copilot at no additional charge, enabling business leaders and IT professionals to measure Copilot adoption and business impact, Microsoft says. Copilot Analytics, the front-end for Viva Insights, is generally available.
Microsoft is also introducing new agents in Microsoft 365 that are integrated directly into Copilot.
- For instance, Microsoft says every SharePoint site now has an agent, allowing employees to quickly tap into the knowledge stored in the company’s SharePoint files. The feature is generally available.
- Another new agent for Microsoft Copilot, the Interpreter Agent, provides real-time speech-to-speech interpretation during team meetings. Microsoft says the AI can simulate a user’s voice for a more personal and engaging experience. The feature will be in public preview in early 2025.
- A third new agent, the Employee Self-Service Agent, helps employees answer common policy questions and complete tasks starting with HR and IT. The feature is in private preview.
- Microsoft Teams is also getting two new agents: Facilitator, which takes real-time notes in meetings and chats, and Project Manager, which automates plan creation and task completion in Microsoft Planner. Both agents are in public preview.
- Finally, Microsoft says that several third-party companies, including ServiceNow and Workday, will add their agents to Copilot and Copilot Studio, Microsoft’s tool for creating and managing Copilot agents. Companies like S&P Global and CB Insights will introduce new connectors that allow Copilot to reference more types of business data.
Another new feature in Copilot allows businesses to add a “Meet my Copilot” button to their website that launches a chat with a Copilot agent. Copilot can also host a website’s live chat, allowing users to converse with a Copilot agent while on the site.
Finally, Microsoft says Copilot now supports a variety of new languages: Arabic, Danish, Finnish, Norwegian, Swedish, Dutch, Indonesian, Malay, Polish, Russian, and Turkish. Copilot can translate between 40 languages and understand more than 100 languages.
In other news, the Redmond-based tech giant also announced Copilot Actions and Copilot Pages, which seek to automate repetitive job tasks, saving users a great deal of time.
