Microsoft quietly announced yesterday an update for its Microsoft Family Safety app for iOS and Android, which now supports two new premium features that the company announced earlier this year. The Microsoft Family Safety app launched in preview in May and became generally available in July, and it can give parents more control over what their kids can do with their different devices.
“Microsoft Family Safety mobile app users with a Microsoft 365 Family subscription can now access two new features—Location Alerts and Drive Safety—empowering families to create healthy habits and protect what matters most with both physical and digital safety,” the company said yesterday. Drive Safety can provide parents insights on how their kids behave behind the wheel, while Location Alters will send push notifications when a family arrives or leaves a specific location.
These two new premium features are only supported on Android as of today, and Drive Safety is only available in the US, UK, Australia, and Canada. Microsoft is still working to bring digital safety features to iOS devices, though there’s no ETA yet.
