In the blog post today for Windows 10 Insider Preview build 16273, Microsoft acknowledged that Windows 10 S is Insider-Ready. While it’s a bit exciting for those who are just installing Windows 10 S, this is not exactly a new feature. Ever since Windows 10 S was made available for download on August 1st, the Insider Program feature was always been accessible in the same menu in Windows 10 S as it is in other versions of Windows 10.
Anyway, Microsoft is now highlighting how Windows Insiders to install Windows 10 S on their PCs. In today’s Insider blog post, the company offered up the following advice to prospective Windows 10 S users:
Windows 10 S brings the experiences Windows users know and love, streamlined for security and performance…. Windows Insiders can try Windows 10 S on their PCs and join the Windows Insider Program via Settings > Update & security > Windows Insider Program to receive Insider Preview builds for Windows 10 S just as they would on other editions of Windows 10.
To try Windows 10 S on your PC, you must first be running Windows 10 Pro or Windows 10 Enterprise. If you meet these requirements, you can download the Windows 10 S installer to proceed. We previously compiled a guide on how you can install Windows 10 S, so feel free to check it out.
Keep in mind that Windows 10 S will only work with Windows Store apps, and it only is supported on certain devices.
