Microsoft Releases Hotfix to Improve Battery Life for Windows 8.1, 10 Computers
This article describes an feature that saves battery power on a Windows RT 8.1, Windows 8.1, or Windows Server 2012 R2-based computer. The feature is applied in update rollup 2955164, or in hotfix 2955769 that is described in this article and has a prerequisite.

This hotfix is available for users of the following operating systems:
- Windows 8.1 Enterprise
- Windows 8.1 Pro
- Windows 8.1
- Windows RT 8.1
- Windows Server 2012 R2 Datacenter, Essentials, Foundation, Standard
You can follow the download link at the end of this article and then follow the instructions provided on the page to download the hotfix. However, make sure that you have installed the KB 2919355 prerequisite file which is needed for the hotfix to work. After you will have requested the hotfix by e-mail, it will be sent to you. You don’t need to choose between platforms, as the system will automatically identify what you’re running.
