According to a tweet from Paul Thurrott, Microsoft MVPs have been invited to attend a virtual Surface briefing. The upcoming August 12 event could presumably be for the Surface Duo.

Not many other details were provided, but this timing does make a lot of sense. The Duo has been rumored to ship the week of August 24, which is just 12 days after this event. And, since the COVID-19 outbreak means Microsoft won’t hold in-person events, such a virtual briefing would be the perfect way to introduce the device to Microsoft’s Most Valuable Professionals.

Previously, Microsoft has also invited Surface fans to attend in-person press events ahead of the launch of the Surface Laptop 3, Surface Pro 7. So, this once again hints that the Duo will be coming sooner, rather than later. There might even be a separate event for media, too.

In other news, yet another Microsoft executive has been spotted with the Surface Duo. This time, it’s the Corporate Vice President of Microsoft 365, Jeff Teper. As seen in the featured image above, the exec showed off how he uses dual screen OneDrive on his Duo to look for the best photo his daughter took of him, using the device. He also mentioned how he uses the Duo outside to meet with Surface Chief Panos Panay outdoors on Microsoft Teams.
