Microsoft Photos adds Image Search with Bing, allowing users to search the Internet related content similar to their images

The latest update to the Microsoft Photos app introduced many new capabilities for Windows 11 and Windows 10 users.

Microsoft says the update is part of a new version of the Photos app that’s rolling out to Windows Insiders in the Dev and Beta channels. The app’s overall design is a bit more modern, and the navigation panel has been updated to make it easier to find the photos you’re looking for.

The most significant change, though, is adding a new “iCloud Photos” section to the menu on the left side of the app. Once you install iCloud for Windows and log in with your Apple ID, you can view your iCloud Photos library from the Windows app.

You can also download individual pics from iCloud to your device by selecting them, right-clicking, and choosing “Download.”

Microsoft says the new version of Photos is rolling out to Windows Insiders in the Dev and Beta channels now. The company also takes feedback on the update through the Windows Feedback Hub.

Microsoft’s big move is to make its apps more open and intuitive. The new version of Photos is also rolling out to Windows Insiders in the Release Preview channel for those on Windows 11 and Windows 10 version 21H2.

Alongside the new capability for iPhone users, Microsoft Photos will also support Image Search with Bing, which will allow users to easily search the Internet for pictures similar to their own. This capability will also display related content, from Wikipedia posts to videos.

Earlier this summer, the Redmond-based tech giant added AI capabilities to Microsoft Photos, making the app more versatile.
