Microsoft is improving the Microsoft Lists experience on the web by introducing new commenting capabilities. The new commenting functionality is now rolling out in Office 365 tenants using targeted release, according to the Microsoft 365 Admin Center.
Microsoft Lists is one of the newest apps for the Microsoft 365 subscription service that allows users to create, track, and share lists. Now, the company wants to improve its collaboration capabilities by adding the option to add and delete comments on list items. Microsoft says that users will be able to view all comments on a list item or filter between comments or item activity views.
When users access a custom list, they should see a new comments pane alongside the list item form by default. More specifically, they will be able to access the new comments pane by clicking the comments icon, as shown above. However, the pane will not be available for Power Apps enabled lists.
It is important to note that users with list edit permission can only add/delete comments, and editing isn’t supported yet with this release. Furthermore, if the new experience gradually rolling out first on the web, the company has promised to bring this option to Microsoft Teams soon.
