Microsoft will update Teams to support third-party chat and meeting keyboard shortcuts, according to a recent entry to the Microsoft 365 Roadmap. What does this mean?
Well, if you’re using other applications to set up keyboard shortcuts for chat and meeting apps (such as using it to create shortcuts for WhatsApp for Windows, for example), then you should be able to use them in Microsoft Teams, as well.
The entry says users can do it by accessing the keyboard shortcut dialog from Settings, selecting a communication and meeting layout, and then applying the shortcuts from their preferred 3rd party.
Here’s what the entry says:
Users familiar with keyboard shortcuts used in 3rd party applications chat and meeting applications can utilize the same shortcuts in Teams. To do this, access the keyboard shortcuts dialog from the Settings and more button in the upper right, and select a communication or meeting layout. This enables users to apply the shortcuts they are accustomed to from 3rd party chat and meeting applications.
The new enhancement will arrive on the platform starting in February.
In other news, Teams will enhance the meeting recap feature to be shared via links.
