Microsoft Teams is about to get a new feature, which will give users the ability to pin chat messages and replies to the top of a channel. According to a Microsoft representative on the Teams UserVoice forum, the company is actively working to bring pinning support to Teams channels.

Right now, there is no option for Team owners to highlight important announcements that are usually pushed out of view by newer messages. With this new pinning experience, Microsoft aims to keep vital information easy to access, even weeks after a message has been sent. Team owners will be able to pin a message on top of the channel window when there’s an important message in a conversation that Team members have to lookup. Clicking the pinned message should point users to the specific message in the channel.

For now, we don’t have an ETA as to when the new option is supposed to go live, but we should expect Microsoft to roll out an official announcement in the coming weeks. In the meantime, if you are looking for something specific, Teams has a powerful search function. We invite you to check out our explainer post for more information.
