More layoffs by Microsoft may be on the way according to Fortune.com. We have already seen over 1,300 positions cut since Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella’s now famous “tough choices” email but there could be even more cuts after the 2016 fiscal year begins on July 1.
One of the main areas that Microsoft could be cutting down is their mobile phones division. Terry Myerson is now in charge of the Windows and Devices group that includes all Microsoft made hardware. By consolidating their hardware departments, Microsoft may have even more positions that could be deemed redundant. That term may seem harsh but it applies here. If Microsoft is combining large areas of their hardware development there will be talented employees that will have to move elsewhere.
This may not be the only difficult decision that Satya Nadella may have been referring to but telling employees that they have to find a new place to work is one of the hardest things that employers have to do.
