It’s not every video game series that needs to lay out a timeline of events to explain the span of their story. But for Metro, the convergence of digital to text between games and books has prompted an online spread. Of course, the timeline makes it easier for players that aren’t up to date on the Metro universe but for die-hard fans; it had something even more exciting.
“The next Metro video game” it announced at the bottom set for a 2017 release date (via ICXM). The brief description reads: “It all adds up to something. Where the books end their story, the game will pick it up. An era of great discoveries lies ahead…”
It seems that the new game will take place directly after the events of the Metro 2035 book. The post World War 3 plotline follows the events of Metro: Last Lididght, a video game released for Xbox 360 and PC.  Metro 2035 is described as the final part of the trilogy that brings together characters from all the books and games together and intertwines them to turn the reader’s knowledge of the Metro world upside down.
This is just another piece of the puzzle, so to speak, for Metro fans. “Do you want to know the truth?” a tagline teases on the site. If you’re looking for hints into the next video game, you can check out the first look of Metro 2035 for free or pre-order it via Amazon. The book will be released on December 10, 2016.
